Trump Is Turning America Into an Economic Doomsday Machine

The Trump administration no longer even pretends to give a damn about the cost-of-living nightmare crushing ordinary Americans. To them, the rest of us—the people actually paying the bills—are completely disposable.

Washington is deploying every taxpayer-backed lever it can find, propping up the Treasury market and keeping torrents of liquidity coursing through Wall Street, even as working families are being strangled by rent, groceries, insurance, energy bills, and the relentless erosion of their purchasing power.

Trump appears obsessed with one objective and one objective only: keeping the stock market levitating through the midterms so that he can manufacture the illusion of prosperity—a grotesque Potemkin economy in which Wall Street flashes green while Main Street is quietly bled white.

Had he been willing to risk losing the midterms and simply let the market take its medicine, price discovery could have done its job. Stocks could have bottomed earlier, speculative excesses could have been flushed out, and the economy might already be undergoing a genuine process of repair.

Instead, he has chosen to postpone the reckoning. He is driving the cost of living even higher while raiding the public purse, using the hard-earned money of ordinary Americans to transform what could have been a contained market correction into a limitless, system-wide financial time bomb.

And if this artificially suspended market is kept alive until after the midterms—only to finally collapse once the election is over—America could face a catastrophe that makes the 2008 financial crisis look like nothing more than a dress rehearsal:

runaway living costs, a stock market reduced to rubble, a Treasury market in free fall, America’s credit and financial credibility shattered, banks collapsing, unemployment exploding, and millions of families being driven into ruin. That would not be an ordinary recession.

It would be an economic detonation—a policy-made chain reaction capable of dragging the entire United States into a second Great Depression.
